I like how stern casually snipes Letterman in between professing how great he is, how great his wedding was and name dropping celebrities who attended that didnt make it to Letterman's "horrible" wedding. Letterman just took everything.

Howard is basically going way over the top on Dave because he's accountable to his listeners. If he goes an Letterman and plays nice guy, his listeners will call him out on it. Everything he's doing there is to be justified once he's back on his own show. There is no Howard, publicly, apart from his show. And he has always been one to err on the side of caution - in this case, ream Dave. You can tell Dave hates it. Its so personal. But I love Howard. Always will. A true star.
