my little brother decided that this was his favorite song, and kept borrowing mine and my mother's ipods to listen to it.
he's only fifth grade, so he didn't understand what the last line meant... which ended up leading into "the talk"

Whoopse, he was scientifically incorrect, it's interspecific, not intraspecific....guess that's not quite the point of the song.

This is my mom's favorite Great Big Sea song. And she doesn't like listening to the album version because he doesn't get into is as much.

@marymactavish Shel Silverstein wrote and recorded the song. It was on the album I'm So Good That I Don't Have to Brag, which was released in 1965. It's hard to believe someone would release an album without checking for clearance on all the songs, especially in the twenty-first century, when a quick Google of the lyrics would have told them who wrote it.
