5.2 Earthquake in Illinois 4/18/08

The USGS says a 5.2 magnitude earthquake shook Southern Illinois at 4:37 a.m. The epicenter is 19 miles southeast of Olney, IL. The quake was felt across much of the Midwest. Here in Central Illinois, no damage or injuries were reported. Damage was reported in other location outside of our area. The USGS say aftershock may occur, but at a lower magnitude on the Richter Scale.

Haha, yehh, I live in Olney.

I woke up, grabbed my cat and pillow and ran out of the house.

I had nooooo idea what was going on.

Afterwards, I laughed.

Then in school the next day I was in a computer lab, and the monitors were literally bouncing side to side and the building shook and rattled horribly..

Pretty scary stuff.

I was sleeping when the earthquake hit and it woke me up.. then the aftershock i was in the computer lab working on a project and everything started shaking... my teacher didnt even know there was an earthquake lol

and i didnt feel the aftershock either cause i was walking through a noisy school hallway that time. lucky me.

i was in a computer lap in school when the aftershock happend... like all the cabents were rattling.. my teacher had no idea what was going on she just inored it while she was teaching lol

I live in Olney. I had just got home from work and was just getting ready to turn on th e TV. I heard a rumble from the south that got closer and louder. When it got to the apartment building I live in it was just a loud boom and felt like somebody had just lifted the building up a foot off the ground and dropped it . BOOM!

i was all bye myself in school because everyone else went on a feild trip but i forgot my permission slip. lol i was in the hallway alone and i dove under a table

And I didn't feel the after shock.. I was on the road, but was told that the principle came over the intercom stressing that they "practice the earthquake drills".. haha

I remember that.. I was taking my "Me Day" the next day.. I had my friend staying over, since he was taking his day with me (going fishing).. I thought it was a dream, and came flying out of my room and woke everyone up in the basement, and grabbed my little sister from her room and ran up stairs..

My other sister thought my dad fell out of bed.. o_O
