Mangoes come from a tropical zone, so it's important to make sure to grow them in an environment where it never gets too cold. Learn about covering mango seeds with two or three inches of soil after planting them sideways in a pot with help from a sustainable gardener in this free video on growing mangoes from a seed.

  • One thing she didn't mention is taking the seed out of the pit. I always do this when starting mango seeds.

In India, they just put the seeds on the ground, put a little dirt on top, and water. They trees grow just fine.

  • Omg! That is so cool! I loved the way you showed the beginning of its life. Mangos are my favorite fruit, you made it easy for me to start growing one! Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it!

  • @smurfboywv

no need to open seed..it will give sprouts in 2 weeks

  • Indian mangoes are the sweetest iv got 2 to root

  • @blackboy424 split it open with a butter knife.

  • @smurfboywv how do you do that?

  • I just put my 3 mango seeds which all have about 1 inch roots in pots with potting mix outside on my deck ( I live in NJ, so it gets between 87-93 usually during the day). I watered each of them pretty good with luke warm water. How often should I water them? Should I keep the water constantly moist or let it dry out a little? And how much sunlight should they see? Right now they are on a part of the deck which doesn't get direct light.

  • @26121944 Actually, while mangoes are very popular in India, there are several varieties indigenous to other areas. The most common mango is the Indian mango (magnifera indus) but other species exist as well.

  • @VyvienneEaux That is India, the country of Mango Origin.

  • it takes five to seven years to a mango tree to form the fruit
