Why is Obama and the news saying he is African American, Obama is biracial, Black father and white mother. African American is not correct. Is Obama not proud of his white heritage? This is a slap in the face for the biracial and white race. Does the news not realize they are wrong calling him African American? Do they not realize it would be more beneficial to call Obama biracial president so this would include blacks,whites,and biracial people of America?

You points are duly noted. He is in fact biracial yet he still is a powerful symbol for African Americans therefore can you blame the media for giving us Blacks the opportunity to enjoy this moment in history. Granted we do have to share him with the other half of his race, we still look to him as ours. But you are right Obama belongs to all of us.

I think you are technically correct, but the larger question is why do people use the term African American anyhow. I am ethnically from Germany. You don't see German American too often in the press. Why? I speculate it is because blacks are ironically more racist than non blacks. E.g. blacks voted for Obama 85 percent in state primaries over Clinton despite there being no material substantive diff btwn Obama and Clinton's policies.

Hold on a second. Just because blacks voted heavily for Obama doesn't make us racist. We've been voting for white candidates all our lives. How does it make us racist if we choose that to vote for her first viable candidate that looks like us? Please do explain the logic of your argument?
