Yeah. Sun Jian initially engages an officer (don't remember the name :P), but the officer retreats soon after. When Sun Jian follows him far enough, he falls into the ambush. You can just pursue the officer on a horse and defeat him before he gets that far. (Or trigger the ambush yourself XD)
