Taken just before the 'main event'. You can see the whole thing building up to an inevitable conclusion... the rain was not stopping. It just kept on coming down in sheets!

  • 1:06 is that house falling in the river ??

  • not a house, its a tree mate!

  • Really good footage. I'm doing a charity video this weekend for the flood victims and a local band are recording a single on saturday (tomorrow) which will be available on itunes on Monday.

I would like to put your coverage in the video, let me know how you feel about that. I'm just up the road in Gilgarran.

  • No problem using the footage - best to contact me via my private messages on trickyshot77 so we can sort something out...

  • God....how surreal is that. My mother was trapped in our home and was airlifted and featured on BBC News. Thats the first I knew she was safe as I'd had not been able to get through to her for over 24 hours coz the lines were down. I last spoke to her when she was trying to move stuff upstairs and could hear the water rushing in.

  • Whilst we were walking around checking things out... I knew there was trouble ahead... we walked back into town and it was already started to flood... a little later I walked back to pick my daughter up from school and had to wade through the water which was up to my knees... once over the defenses that was it....

  • Good footage.

And well done for steering the sheep in the right direction.

  • pfffft :S you can see my house on that video :)

  • top vid mate. im in Burneside just north of kendal & as the day drew to a close we thought we'd had it bad, that was untill we woke to the news next morning and all the attention had shifted to cockermouth & surounding area. it was a rare day indeed

  • good footage :-)

  • @trickyshot77 theres a little gray house in the background try from 1:03 and look

  • It was pretty heartbreaking walking down Main Street afterward to see the heart had been ripped put of the town. So many businesses have taken the brunt of this it's incomprehensible. Imagine having an 8ft torrent of water forcing it's way down the main street in your town and taking everything in it's path with it. A lovely man lost his life in Workington trying to prevent people travelling over the bridge before it collapsed.
