Hagel: McCain's Defense of the Surge is Wrong

On ABC's This Week this morning, Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE) defended his opposition to the surge last year, saying that, "We have lost over 900 dead Americans since the surge. Now if you want to dismiss that as 'success' that would be your interpretation."

Germany warned Americans not to sail in the north Atlantic, as Uboats can not always tell the difference between battleships and passenger ships. So when Lusitania was sunk and Americans died, Germany apologized and tried to pay restitution to America for it, and they were in the middle of a war! But Wilson would have none of it...he was waiting for an incedent to get us in the war. So he asked congress to declare war on Germany.

So you see, WW1 wasnt even nessacary.

WW1 was not nessacary at all. In fact, it angerd the Germans, which is part of why they declared war on us in WWII (blowback from WW1). We lost 400,000 fighting men in WWII. But we also lost a lot of men in WW1 when we didnt need to be there.

so it is okay to go abroad in defense of our values? So you are saying that our western values are special and somehow superior to the rest of the world, right? You must be if WWI and II were "good wars" in defense of our values.

Didn't Saddam violate our values when and sense of liberty by being a dictator, and gasing the kurds, putting down shi'ite tribes? Aren't those kurds and shites fighting for our values? Or is it only okay to fight for our values when white people are threatened?
