  • The purpose of Tai Chi is to transform the arm and leg muscles to withstand the load of one's body weight to maintain balance at any position. The versatility of Tai Chi is very flexible to handle any situations under adversity for the human body. The yin-yang forces are always working with and against each other to let Nature take its course. The mind is to control the movements. If one tries to maintain a fix position for the legs or arms, then one will loose the concentration of the mind.

  • your front knee is not in line with the toes, this is an error and can cause damage to the knees.

  • @TheRetroman68 Your suggestion was well considered. The body weight is alternately shifting from the left to right legs. Unless one is standing still, how can one have the knee align with the toes while they were moving...??? The demonstration here was to show by shifting the body weight alternately by following the yin-yang concept without having one leg taken a constant load at all times. I've practiced this for years, my legs and knees are getting stronger. So far no damage to my knees yet.

  • @NiteDragon95 Dont interfere then ! as for wu wei one can add a sail to his boat to find a way upstream.

  • @NiteDragon95 Im pleased for you but it is a prob and your explanation holds no water, the knee is fully extended and not in line with the toes. enough said!

  • @TheRetroman68 Move with Tao is to following the principles of Tao which is Wu Wei. Wu Wei is to let nature take its course without interfering. Move with Tao is to learn the reasoning from the truth. Nature will correct itself if it was off course. Stones were thrown as the yin-yang effect of exchanging ideas between two people. It is not a matter of who can throw more stones or hit the hardest. It was the most reasoning and logical thinking. BTW How do you know what they were attempting to do?

  • @NiteDragon95 they were attempting to use 8 forces! who are you to be critical. Let the world move around you as it wishes, move with the Tao. If one throws stones, rocks may be thrown back!

  • @TheRetroman68 I have nothing against competing in pushing hands. What I saw was two people doing American wrestling and claimed as Tai Chi. I just wanted to point out the fact that the yin-yang concept was not applied in the competition. I only see two yang-yang force were pushing against each other which is not Tai Chi at all. The basic concept of Tai Chi is always having the yin and the yang counter acting with each. Thus two guys falling at the same time is definitely NOT Tai Chi.

  • @TheRetroman68 I was only following and responding to your thoughts. Thank you very much for your comments. Maybe I will take lessons from you in the future, young man...!!!!

  • How can one who swims on land criticise a swimmer. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Now humble yourself NiteDragon, a man of your age should know better!!!!!
