2009 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 V8 Around the Track

Driving an '09 Hyundai Genesis 4.6L V8 around the track at the Discover Hyundai Genesis Tour at FedEx Field in D.C.

The 4.6L V8 is rear wheel drive and has 375hp and 333 lb/ft of torque. It goes from 0-60 in "less than 6 seconds" and goes through the quarter mile in 14 seconds at 103mph.

The last generation E-class, American-spec, didn't do anything for me .. . . If I had $40k I'd buy this, $60k I'd buy a supercharged A6.

The interior and the packaging as a whole don't even come NEAR comparison to the 300C. You're right, though, they both are RWD V8s with 4 doors. . . . . . . And, newsflash, the 4.6 produces nearly the same power as the 5.7 :).

For what you get, this car is a great value. I picked up an 09 with 6k miles for $31k...4.6L, fully, fully loaded. SOOO much nicer than some American counterparts like dodge, etc... as far as quality goes. Straight line power...ya, and SRT 8 takes the bait...those drive like a boat though, this car IMO is actually pretty nimble. I really like it.

@bg1379 Motortrend quoted this car as the suspension feeling as if it were melded from two different cars, with overly stiff rear and a soft pushy front. It feels unstable at autobahn speeds when they maxed it out too.

@whatha20 Thats not true, my friend had a 2003 VW Passat and it didnt have any major issues until it was 7 years old and my other friend has a 2001 Mercedes C-Class that has yet to give any problems at all and its 10 years old.

@Kevin39LV8 chryslers reliability has suffered a lot and the interior is super cheap compared to these cars, this genesis doesnt have the same old cheap interior you remember from the earlier days of hyundai... its taken awards for bringing its quality up, only the srt-8 is faster and its still cheaper inside, you dont buy this car to race in any case, you buy it for something nice that happens to be decently quick. you buy an srt-8 to haul ass, not to drive in luxury
