Dave's 1965 hit that made number 3 on the Country chart. Kinda made a career out of truckin' songs he made Johnny Cash sound like a boy soprano!

  • The Best in Trucker Music ; I think the 1964 Album was the best he ever did , With song's like D.J Memphis Joe,Operation X,Sugarland USA

,Truck Drivers Waltz,etc....Those of you that might have heard might agree; To bad it's out of print,I've checked Mercury records and every other place with no luck.

  • This song would go great with a v8 Jimmy

  • Our band backed Dave for two songs in Wichita; great singer and a nice fella. Got this album; I'm an ex-trucker and the tunes mean a lot to me, especially Dave's powerful versions.

  • mark5659 it,s actually gemmie 8 meaning g.m v8 they were in plenty of trucks from the 60,s right up till the early 80,s

  • How appropriate the words are. They (truckers) are just like sailors. A girl at every truck stop!!

  • @sshawn112 Yea he's talkin bout a 318 but you couldnt even listen to this song in one cause there so damn loud lol!

  • This is the song that gave birth to a Ric Flair catchphrase: "I'm a kiss stealin', wheelin' dealin', jet flyin', limousine ridin' son of a gun! WHOOOOOO!!!" (OK, Ric dropped the "truck drivin' " part and added the stuff about limos and jets, but this is what inspired it.)

  • god help truckers

  • @Righty736 When he says Jimmy 8 he not talking about a V8 jimmy

  • Peroxide blonds with stacked hair doo's wearing hot pants and go go boots, a hot cup of coffee,a pack of Marlboro reds, greased back hair and directional sideburns and a shimmy shakin Jimmy with a run to make man what a scene those old school truckers were throwing down

  • My old man was a trucker all through the 60s and my old lady played one hell of a lot of truck driver songs all the time. I used to be in truck stops a lot and would stand on a chair to play pinball....It was a real culture back then and they were pretty good guys. Thanks for posting this.

  • @cowwmann2001 I think it might have been 'lovin machine' if that helps. I believe I remember the song.
