Here is part 2 of the series. I will be posting more over the coming weeks in smaller chapters. Be sure to subscribe to my channel to not miss the additional chapters.

This a movie that I made featuring my custom figures and dioramas. It basically uses some rudimentary stop motion and "puppeteering".

It is meant to showcase my dioramas and custom figures.

I purposely left out the dialogue, it would have made the project too long. I felt by cutting the dialogue it allowed it to move at a quicker pace. I did use sound effects and music to capture the feeling.

It uses on 3 3/4" figures and smaller. I purposely did not use props, statues, busts, 12" to keep it from getting out of control.

I tried making this when I was a kid and also about 10 years ago.

I shot it using a tiny Canon Digic DV and edited it on Pinnacle Studio.

  • that was perfect sillof! amazing accurate. I would have liked to have heard the original lines in there for 3po though... had they been in there I think I'd have forgotten that I was watching a toy version!

The sound effects were perfect though, did you rip those from the DVD or find them somewhere else?

also, HOW LONG did it take you to set up those sets! amazing acuracy! I loved the scenes inside the sandcrawler...

btw, is that a vintage sandcrawler you used for some of the shots?!

  • @spudafett

the dialogue did make the scenes more believable but also made the overall project too long. Those dioramas have been build over the course of years. But all the sand stuff was a bag of sand from the hardware store and 10 modular rocks I made and could rearrange. The sandcrawler is a made from scratch out of foarcore board.

    thanks

  • Incredible, like watching Star Wars. Shoot, to think of what you could do with a movie budget... I like your use of more puppetteering than usual, is has a more lively feel than "traditional" stop motion. I didn't think to work it like that when I made my star wars movies.

  • I love how you took it scene by scene. Great job. Check out our series when you get a chance.

  • that was great if you wanted i could do some C-3PO voice's

  • Good job, I liked the whole thing, no complaints at all. :)=)

  • Another good episode. The only thing I would have done differently is add in those Jawa whispers when they were hiding behind the rocks. I'm glad there's no human voices in there, but I'm hoping Chewie's growls are going to be in there.

  • Wow! Pretty amazing! Loved the accuracy of the sets, shots, and lighting. Can't wait to see the rest!

  • 3:19 Look! A penny!

  • I used to have all of these figures... these are from the 90's line, right? I'm slowly collecting the Legacy collection now; I've got most of the cast of ANH.

  • Superb!Cant wait for more.
