Hey, thanks for putting this up... Bad to admit, but yes, the kids that are Taidam in the US (Iowa) are starting to forget. We do LOVE our culture, but don't know enough about it, and should keep the language/culture going ... I'm starting to forget how to speak it myself.... yikes!!

Merci énormément pour ce partage ! Je suis une Thaï dam vivant en France...ne parlant malheureusement plus très bien le thaï...Je garde pourtant espoir quant à l'avenir de nos coutumes :))

@jamyang801 I have lived in Chiangmai and Fang in the North of Thailand for the past 19 years and can understand this song well since to me it sounds very similar to Lanna Thai...which is also similar to Lao. There are many Tai (Shan) from Burma here and I am starting to learn their language and writing too. May all Tai people be able to return to their home lands one day.

My grandma was Tai dam. She spoke a different version of Laotian while I was growing up and later on in her teens learned to speak Vietnamese from her husband.

Was your grandpa a Tai Dam too? Both of my parents were Tai Dam, but only my father knew how to speak Vietnamese because he had to learned it in school.
