During a crossing of the North Sea from Helgoland, Germany to the UK we were caught in a Force 9 Severe Gale with winds gusting 45/50 knots and the odd wave height reaching up to 10 meters. The boat was sailing under storm jib alone reaching speeds up to 8 knots
This footage was taken a day later when things had calmed down a little.
The yacht is a 28ft Feeling 850.
I own a Feeling Kirie Elite 37 and am impressed to see a 28 doing so well in weather like this. It's good to know the boat can hold up; I've never been in seas like those.

nice job guys
those were some steep waves with a short fetch between them too.
all makes for a very bumpy trip
great video and happy sailing!

I've been out a few times with me little old Westerly Cirrus in such conditions (north sea off Northumbrian coast). You get quite thrown about and everything has to be very carefully stowed. Two experienced crew - no problem. Alone - not so much fun over a long distance.
