@kenpalmer1965 You're welcome. I saw it on the news once. I used to work not far from this airport. The community just south of the airport is Newport Beach. They're rich so they always get what they want.

@artistgmg Thank you for your reply. Wow, I had no idea that those condos had airplane noise sensors placed in there. Even though I am a huge aviation fan, particularly of jetliners and cargojets, I can understand why they took those steps.
-
@kenpalmer1965 That is correct. It is because there are very expensive condos just a couple miles off the end of the runway and the people there don't want the noise. There are actually airplane noise sensors placed by those condos and if they are tripped by a loud plane, the time and date are recorded and the airline gets fined.

I love SNA, flying there in a few weeks!

I have been told that the reason for these steep takeoffs are due to the noise abatement ordinances of Orange County. Please correct me if I am wrong on this.

@datsniggawater LaGuardia Airport in New York is the same way
-
@datsniggawater It was right around 7am. We had to wait to takeoff, as did all thoes other planes at 0:04 because the airport cannot officially start operations until 7am, when the local noise curfew ends.
has SNA ever get 767 or 777 there? they need to since its the only airport on orange country while los angeles has three airports

@datsniggawater I think they've gotten 767s from UPS, but as far as I know there has never been a 777 at SNA because of the shorter runway and strict noise abatement rules.

@datsniggawater Funny enough, that's why I like SNA, and to an extent SAN: because they're exciting
