Here are some bullet points re. our flood situation in Brisbane, Australia:
1 Teams of volunteers made the cleanup easy and we stayed with friends around the corner (had the downstairs rooms to ourselves) which was convenient.
2. We were able to remove all our stuff (including 3 pianos) as we got going early.
3. The fibro walls were great and just needed a pressure spray, sugar soap / detergent then rolled on acrylic (white) undercoat...very quick and cheery. Gyp rock would have been much worse and it probably would have been months before we could move in. The only place that had gyp rock was my piano studio ceiling...it collapsed.
4. It was like having a massive spring clean, and we got to throw out 24 years of accumulated junk.
5. I just found out that we do have structural flood insurance to cover things like electric, doors, wallpaper, polished floors et cetera, and some 'cashed up' friends have already teamed together and bought us a new stove, fridge / separate freezer and raco 9-piece cooking set (all new from Harvey Norman).
...that's it...I'm going into business as a full time flood victim:)
So you see...nothing to worry about.
Kent, I have a great positive spirit, you can sense it in your music and see it in this video. I'm very sorry to see you were hit by the flooding. How is your piano?
