  • OMG....Is that Michael Madsen at 10:38? ....It sure looks like him....

  • @PlaYah1979 He does look quite a bit like him, but Madsen would have only been 15 years old at the time.

    Fun comment, though.

    Take care.

  • What is the name of his "running pony" is it phil silver????? And why do most horses use them??? Are they male or female??? Do you know cf1970??

  • Secretariat's pony was named Billy Silver. They are used primarily to calm horses before races, but also for companionship off the track. However, if you watch the 1973 Belmont post parade, you'll notice that even though Billy Silver was nearby, Secretariat didn't need a pony that day; he was raring to run and full of himself, which is exactly what horsemen/women want to see. Ponies are males because females would be distracting and dangerous due to a colt's strong sex drive. Hope that helps.

  • @cf1970 What a wonderful answer, so informative, love your videos!

  • @SherryBucher Well, thank you kindly, Sherry. I'm certainly not a hands-on horseman, but in my humble opinion, I'm hoping my statement makes logical sense.

I'm happy you're enjoying the videos! God bless.

  • These videos you have posted carry tremendous historical significance. They provide a glimpse into the world of October 1973. Everybody needs to know something about this!

  • 7:08 cute:)

  • @PlaYah1979 are you sure he dosen't look more like Elvis

  • I enjoyed this alot....thank you. I believe all animals go to heaven. along with mine, I'd sure like to see him! what a great horse. I wish I could have known this great horse. how proud they all must have been. To have loved him...eddie the groomer loved him so much too. I liked what I read about him saying good mornin and puuling his tounge and soon every moring during his race days he would put his tounge out when eddie past him

  • Great clip!! Very informative!!!

  • It's sad they retired him so soon.

  • @ihatenoodles Likewise :) In Australia a fairly decent horse used to race under the name of Miss Secretariat a fair few years back. After watching the film and perusing the YouTube clips, no horse should ever be compared to Secretariet, not even in name. What a wonderful animal. Big Red smashed them in the Belmont Stakes like the freak he was. There was and will be no parrell to his greatness. I hope his record is never bettered. RIP champ!. Awesome video cf1970. Well done :)

  • i knoe me too, thats why i came here
