'Red Wine Helps You Sleep on Trains' author Scott Dean shows you around a couple common hostel rooms and kitchens to get an idea of what you'll be getting into while backpacking Europe. Both of these hostels are typical hostels on the nicer side. The first is in Bath England and the second in Oxford.

  • i just booked all my hostels on hostel world ... is that a legitimate site that you would recommend?? Great advice :)

  • @niclad07 All of our hostel booking was through hostelworld or hostelz (.com) We never had any problems with these sites other than one hostel losing our reservation, but it was not the fault of the booking site. Print out confirmation numbers and check-in/out dates to show when you arrive. Also read fine print to see if they only accept cash or credit cards. I even called or emailed a couple days ahead of time to make sure they had my booking info, especially in small towns with 1 or 2 hostels

  • Do not stay in a yha in England,I have worked at four yha hostels and it is all about how much money they can get out of you, beware there are hidden charges if you are a non member of yha you will have to pay a £3 pounds non members supplement per night, also the wifi is one pound for twenty mins. The food is crap and bought very cheaply and charged at a high price and alcohol is over priced as well, they also call themselvs a charity it used to be a charity but not anymore.

  • we use hostel world for bookings at our hostel.. we are a small hostel in a small community..,

  • How much more expensive are individual hostel rooms then the 12 bed ones? And how sanitary is the average hostel?

  • Hi!

    Question for you.

I am pretty sure that you would have been to Amsterdam sometime in your travels. Were have you stayed? We're looking for the least expensive accommodation we can find, but we haven't been able to find anything less than50-60 Euro per person, per night.

  • Good day, I have a quick question. I'm backpacking Europe in mid-june to july and would like know if you recommend reserving my nights at the hostels prior to arriving. I wouldn't like to do this because it would make the trip too planned out and less unpredictable. But tell me what you think is best for this mid/high season period. Thank you for the videos. Learned a lot so far!

  • hey m8 ... i really like your videos :D

im panning to go backpacking europe next year
