  • @swale13 Crediting Muslims with saving Greek texts is factually incorrect. Greek literature was already safe in Alexandria and other Greek-speaking cities before Muslims besieged and conquered them.

    Much was in fact lost when Arabic replaced Greek due to the sharp break in tradition. All sources used today, even for Averroes favorite philosopher Aristotle, come not from Muslim-ruled cities like Alexandria or Cordoba but from Constantinople, the only major Greek city Muslims failed to conquer...
