It's almost hard to write: Lexus vs. Hyundai. That's the New York Yankees taking on the Albuquerque Isotopes — same game, different leagues. It's pitting an exalted brand name to which millions aspire, up against the bargain brand millions settle for. And yet despite that, putting the 2008 Lexus GS 350 up against Hyundai's audacious new 2009 Genesis 4.6 in a luxury sedan throw-down has resulted in one of the closest finishes ever in an Inside Line heads-up comparison test.

Yes, the Hyundai Genesis holds its own quite well against the Lexus GS 350 — without all that pesky prestige.

Yes, and it you want the rated power, the Genesis needs premium. And is anyone buying a new $40k+ going to cheap out over $0.10/gallon price difference? Not a chance in hell.

The Lexus is faster, more economical, Better quality, and more sporty, it also has better prestige. However the Genesis is an incredible car still, Hyundai should have made the move TOYOTA did and make a seperate luxury brand.

but if u know REAL things about your mechanical toys then u'd know

that an internal combustion engine gets better over time not worse

unless u dont know how to treat it. once u break a V8 in right it will

serve you for 50 years or more and thats ONE engine with 8 cylis.

go watch some vids on the fleets of new shit piling the runways, airports, test tracks. its disgusting. why?

@McmullenEJ We don't know cars? Let's see. In my book, car is something that turns on everytime wether it is 120F or -10F outside. It should not make me worry about diriving 500 miles away. It is economical and enviromentally friendly, yet have good speed and handling. It has newest technology to make my ride enjoyable, comfortable, and convenient, yet protects me from any threats on the roads. It is easy to maintain and holds its value well. All with a reasonable price tag. Get it?
