That was the best comparison I have ever heard about the subject. Seriously, thanks for making that statement. I think a lot of people get bad impressions of zoo's because of the way media can portray them not to mention because people just plain don't understand, and rather than do the research to form an educated opinion they just spur off about how animals are being maltreated.

when i was a child i went to the zoo, where i saw a male lion. i looked down at my feet and lifted my head back up, almost like i bowed. the next thing i knew, the lion put his head down also. the lion bowed back! it was a moment i will always remeber.

@ahu232 I agree zoos can be terrible places for wild animals. But in the last few years I have done a lot of research and zoos are doing a yeoman's job of trying to preserve certain species that are in danger of going extinct. And those lions that are born in captivity would never survive in the wild. These lions don't know any different so perhaps, for them, it's not so bad. Like those of us who live in cities and never really miss the country.
