Surprise, surprise, the mayor is raising property taxes to pay for city services because he doesn't have enough money to run Toronto. How much is the cities budget? And how much of it is going to the TTC? $717 million? 51 per cent of the budget! Not that I think that it makes a lick of difference - the problem isn't with the infrastructure, but that the street cars and buses run bumper to bumper so you have to wait 45 minutes between them.

The city could have cut out a whole bunch of perks that city councillors receive that would have saved a ton of money but instead they decided to raise taxes. I wish I was a city councillor. Do you know they get free TTC passes and free admission to the zoo?

Now the city is going to sue the provincial government for $700 million worth of property taxes it claims the province owes it. I wonder if they win if they'll reimburse the property taxes they plan to collect? If not I think the citizens of Toronto should launch their own lawsuit against they city - not that I think the city has a hope in hell of winning anyway

All I'm saying is that I agree that city councilors should give up their freebies if they are looking to raise taxes. Sure there is a problem with the revenue stream, but the city also wastes colossal amounts of money.
