Wow, Tom Chambers! I'm a Seattle fan. I did not know that Jay Humphries could dunk!
-
TBS saved the NBA. Ted Turner deserves to be in the Basketball Hall.

Blazer centers...what the hell??

Bill Russell said it all (5:48) in the interview...."You can't rehab a bone"....Bowie was never the same again. Portlanders to this day are still pissed at that draft pick and comparing Oden to him. In 1984, it was "we picked Bowie before Jordan!" and then in 2007 it was "we picked Oden before Durant!".

WATCH :29 ....... he is stepping on the line isn't?

@jaranarm I never knew that. I still think Greg Oden's potential is far greater than Bowie. Greg Oden's strength, quickness, and athleticism is very unique. He just can't stay healthy.
-
@Mistuhbig Odens FG was 61% which was I belive at the time 3rd and 4th in rebounds and 3rd in blocks. Bowie played more mins as well so his number were the best he would of done. I hope he Oden's get healthy and smart with Camby there.

@MSotelo503 Oden is more physical and Bowie was more of a finesse player. However, Bowie is more skilled than Oden. Better shooter, better hands, better passer, better instincts. Bowie blocked 203 shots and shot 53 pct. as a rookie and made the All-Rookie. Because of the injuries, his shooting pct. went down. Bowie holds his own in comparison to Oden on rebounding, defense and blocking shots. Bowie had some 20 rebound games, too. including vs. the Lakers and the Celtics.

@MSotelo503 I'll have to agree that Oden is probably better as a pure center because of the job he does inside and can post up very well. I still say Bowie was a better player overall, being able to play as either center or power forward, was the best passing big man of his time, could run the floor, and can shoot from anywhere on the court. In the end, their styles are more different than similar. And yes, Oden needs to stay healthy to start proving people wrong.
sam bowie went to my high school.. it's a shame that he got injured.
