Young Audiences/Arts For Learning is a non-profit arts-in-education organization that serves approximately 200,000 school children in Louisiana each year. Music, Theater, Dance, Poetry and Storytelling and Visual Arts programs are developed to enhance and reinforce curriculum guidelines. Through participation, students gain knowledge to improve academic skills and foster an appreciation for the arts.
If you are already familiar with Young Audiences, you know that we are part of a national non-profit network of chapters dedicated to the arts and to educating children. Each year, we impact close to 175,000 children in grades Pre-K through 12 throughout Louisiana and we are the first arts-in-education organization ever awarded the National Medal of the Arts.
Our SMART (Science*Math*Arts*Recreation*Technology) After-School and Summer Programs are centered on the basic premise that all children can learn when they are in a nurturing environment with knowledgeable and caring adults who are committed to their academic and social development.
Our new national Arts for Learning Lessons augment school literacy instruction for 3rd through 6th grade students. Created for use by classroom teachers who have no special training in the arts, each unit focuses on building students understanding of specific literacy objectives.
