For what it's worth, I thought that Penry1969's comments were a bit unfair as this is a decent demonstration of Press. This is a traditional demo used by several different schools of Taiji, so I don't think these guys can be "blamed" for it. Still, diparaging what others do seems to be the way of the Internet.
the man inbetween them is reasonble to fall... however..
the third to the last guy shouldn't fall so easily. although newtons law states that momentum must be conserved... the last guy basically didn't even try to catch himself..
hahaha, nice, he used fa jin. that is the trick. with some practice, everyone can learn that. it's not that easy, but very impressive. with a real fa jin u can easily brake through ribs.
Your comments make it clear what you think it demonstrates. I have identified where the giveaways are; which someone who has experience of either tai chi or trickery can recognise. To me these giveaways contradict your comments. Not to mention the fact that this kind of demo has nothing to do with tai chi principles and is merely a good demo or why it is now considered a joke martial art around the world.
but if you are using tricks to accomplish what you want how real is it? and lastly it is merely a DEMONSTRATION of the transferance of energy. if you have a problem with it then deal with it.
I don't check this thing regularly I have a life and as for truth well I think objective truth is not in your thoughts, comments or ego so grow up
as for magicians tricks I'm not into either magicians or tricks and as for your recent comments you are entitled to your opinion good luck mate but it doesn't make you right. And where is your video? as for it being so easy for you congratulations I'm really happy for you
I have recreated this and most of the other chi tricks you see. It was as easy for me with 10+ years of training in tai chi as it was for someone who had been training for less than a month.
I like the inclusion of he old magician's trick of pre-empting the move with the dummy strikes. You can see the stooges' reaction going through the row in rhythmical ripples in time with him. For further emphasis you can try putting a crash mat behind them, thus suggesting the fall without telling them.
Your group even uses the old magician's trick of ideomotion suggestion with the dummy or "warm up" pushes at the beginning. You can see the stooges falling into rhythm in time with his movement. Another fun way to play with this is to put a crash mat behind someone without telling them why. This puts the idea of falling backwards into their mind without the conscious anaylsis of a vocal instruction. Sometimes you can even make them fall without touching them if the suggestion is strong enough.
