If Steve can do it, anyone can. Cutting up a whole chicken saves time, money and waste. Any spare parts (back, neck) can be used to make stock or to feed you pets (yes dogs can digest raw bones easily, cooked bones cause problems). Having a routine of cutting up and cooking a whole chicken can provide protein for several meals during the week.

  • Cutting raw chicken on a wooden chopping block? Not me! I prefer to use my heavy plastic cutting board which can be thoroughly cleaned. Other than scrubbing with salt & vinegar, I don't know how to clean a wooden board after it has been potentially exposed to salmonella. Suggestions?

  • @gryphonshire hot water followed by bleach water spritz that you allow to stand works.

  • cool, now i know another way to cut chicken :D

  • @cookusinterruptus Thanks for the reply, but I am allergic to chlorine bleach. I'll stick to my plastic cutting boards. I do enjoy your programs, so keep 'em coming, please!

  • @gryphonshire Ditto about cutting raw poultry on a wooden cutting board. A follow up would be Jane and Grandpa vomiting with salmonella poisoning after eating a salad that was cut on this same board.
