And blacks who dont seem him as Black enough. His plight will be learning enough about history, psychology, sociology to contextualize discrimination, understand the sources of these tensions, understand both his advantage and disadvantage, and navigate them accordingly.

Interesting Video. I can empathize with the parents' stories, concerns, challenges, and wishes... the desire for their child to be able to acknowledge and embrace all of his identities and have society acknowledge. But I find it problematic that neither parent seemed to acknowledged that racial identity is a social construction and more so about how society sees you than about how you see yourself. To me, their son's struggle will be in dealing with white and asians that see him as black.
