Riding in a light engine consist in the LTEX 7527 SD-45 we are leaving Odenville, AL heading south and this video ends near Trussville, AL at the high steel bridge. After leaving Odenville we cross an open girder trestle and arrive into Sanie, AL. At Sanie it is evident that the siding used to be a lot longer back in the day. In the video it was clogged with cars coming and going to CMC Steel in Birmingham. Then we pass the out of service defect detector at Sanie and come over the steepest steel bridge on the ATN. The bridge is over 160 feet tall and I even was fortunate enough to have been dropped off on the south side of the bridge and let the engineer back up the engines to get a photo runby. Shot in the summer of 2006.
Just another fun day on the railroad!

  • At 4:26 we pass through an area where the ex SAL passes over an abandoned ex CofG right of way. Unfortunately its out of view. The SAL main is on a high fill here so the CofG main passes underneith in a tunnel.
