Sierra Leone has been at peace for five years yet the media still portray it as a violent and dangerous place. This short programme challenges that perception and shows the reality of everyday life in one of Africa's poorest but most beautiful countries.

  • May I quote a very good friend of mine, he is from Sierra Leone: Beautiful Country.. i Would Like to bring investors. But people Read Books About The War & Just Thinking About It Makes them Shiver...Especially After The Movie Blood Diamonds...But I Guess You Have Alot To Learn & Seeing It First Hand Will Prove More Helpful Than A Secondary Source ..One Love to All Sierra Leoneans... :)

With best wishes for him the country and still hoping to dicover the country my self ! ! !

Like I told your friend, just get down there and see it rather than reading books by people with closed minds. You'll be rewarded by a life changing experience.

  • OH NO you cant fool me I played FarCry 2 I know what goes on there, Random Stranger will try too kill you with Machine gun Jeeps, but i guess the diamonds in suit cases are worth it

  • A word of advice. Try not to base your opinions on second hand experiences, particularly those gained from playing poor quality video games. There's a whole real world out there - pay it a visit sometime and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

  • it is a beautiful country, however, may i please see video from the conflict zones on the border of this country? are we all living with stupidity or is it just me? how naive anyone can be to view coastal tourist attractions for south africans and europeans as the actual likeness of what this country is still going through to this day. dont be so optimistic. "optimism is the madness we create in our minds when we are truly miserable."-voltaire

  • Respond to this video...That's a great theory but it it has more flaws than my granny's stockings. 1) Apart from beautiful scenery there are no coastal tourist attractions. 2) There are no South African tourists. 3) There are no European tourists. Remember, Voltaire was speaking from the comfort of a Privileged 18th Century life-style. In Sierra Leone life expectancy is 40, most children under 5 die and 4 million people survive on less that $1 a day. Optimism is all they have.

  • Nice to see something positive about Salone. I spent 4 years working there and found it to be one of the most inspiring countries I have ever been in, with an open outgoing people who just need a break from corruption and poverty.

  • No Sierra Leone music was quite as appropriate for the images and the nice thing about being the director is that I get to do whatever I want.
