In September 2010 I learned that the store carrying my second largest mural was shutting its doors for good.

In response, I decided to go through the five stages of grief as defined by Elisabeth Kubler-Ross as I painted over the mural (source: http://bit.ly/19A6T6 )

Soundtrack: A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes (cover by Hem, surprisingly in the AudioSwap library)

  • Underneath the surface lies a beautiful mural full of color, honesty and love. You're acceptance of the loss of your mural is so symbolic in itself as it shows that its always hard to see beauty on the outside unless you know or knew the inside. I felt so sad seeing it go, but at the end. What I wound up seeing was another work of art.

I'm going to do my first mural and you've inspired me.

  • @DisconnectTheHype17 Thank you so much! An article on this project in the Salt Lake Tribune was not quite so kind to the original mural (which I think was one of the most sincere expressions of my art). I'm happy that you can see more in it. I'd love to see what your first mural looks like; keep me posted.

  • Awww. Sad it went, but I'm glad you made this great video!

  • @utahtoad1971 Thanks! There will be other murals and other videos to come, but I'll miss this mural too :)

  • @rbwmail I'd be honored to show a professional artist my first mural :) I'll definitely show you.

Remember that even though it stings, what that person wrote in the article was just an opinion, criticism at best.

A great piece of advice from my Mother : If it benefits you in any way, listen to it. but if it doesn't, move on because nothing you make with your bare hands is garbage. Not one thing. You're mural is beautiful both before and after.
