I seen this movie on tv, back in the 1970s, and thought the part where the crazy women stabs the justice of the peace in the stomach, over and over, was quite shocking for a movie on tv at that time. where most extreme gore was censored out.

What a great gimmick.
Castle may have been a huckster as much as a filmmaker, but his love for movies, and having fun at the movies, was terrific.

saw this a few years ago as part of a William Castle triple feature at the Detroit Film Theatre....and I am happy to say NO ONE, including myself, left during the fright break!

in the theatres, when they had this, anybody who left had to go to the coward's corner. they had to basically walk a gauntlet (their blood pressure would be taken, they had to sign a piece of paper saying they are a "bona fide coward") and people would laugh at them

I watched the movie yesterday afternoon. What a scary, spine-chilling movie. It was 'now or never' to watch the ending. WOW!
