@chitownref If its credentials you want then here are mine. I have been officiating HS basket ball in southern California for the past 11 years averaging 35 games per season 25 of which are varsity games. I've officiated the play offs each of the last 8 seasons and have gone as deep as the ¼ finals.

The backboard has nothing to do with goaltending. Goaltending only occurs when a player touches the ball during a field-goal try, or tap, while it is in its downward flight, entirely above the rim level and has the possibility of entering the basket. In my argument, because the ball is not on its downward flight it does not meet the conditions of Goaltending so no violation can occur. On most layups, the ball is going up after it contacts the backboard.

only foul here should be a blocking foul at the end there.... the guys going airborn and the defender slides under.. its either a no-call or block, but it's flat out dangerous to step in underneath a guy whos in the air. call the block
