"App developer Rovio Mobil, behind the number one selling Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone game Angry Birds, is planning on expanding the app franchise to television shows, movies, toys and comic books, reports ComputerAndVideoGames.com Wednesday.
The creators of Angry Birds have reportedly been shopping around studios and visiting investors over the past few weeks, according to a report in Variety.
""It doesn't make sense [to produce a slate of different games] when you have a hit of any caliber,"" said Rovio Mobil's CEO Mikael Hed. ""When you create brand equity, to do that again would be a difficult task rather than nurture and build what you have.""
Angry Birds has been downloaded 6.5 million times from Apple's App Store.
SmarTrend alerted subscribers to take profits in Apple on July 19, 2010 at $244.74, since then the stock fell 2.4%.
