KRS-ONE LIVE FREESTYLE IN ATLANTA GA AT APACHE CAFE FEB 2009

Lawrence Krishna Parker better known through out the world as KRS One is what many hip hop heads would refer to as a true MC, a pioneer for the hip hop culture.

Born on August the 20th 1965 KRS One grew up in New York or more specifically the Millbrook housing projects in the South Bronx.
Lawrences parents were originally from Trinidad in the West Indies but had emigrated to the U.S.

As a youth Lawrence was known for spending time with the movement known as the Hare Krishnas and it was through this association that he first gained the nick name Kris which he would later shorten to KRS One for use as his graf tag.

Also known as Kris Parker, The Blastmaster, The Teacha, The Philosopher and simply Kris he would as years passed attach the acronym "Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone." To the moniker KRS One and he would go by that name during his long career as an MC.

KRS first found hip hop through his mothers music collection that included releases by The Treacherous Three and Grandmaster Flash but his life at home with his mother and father was short lived.

KRS was back again in 97 with his highest selling LP I Got Next featuring his hit single Step In To A World a catchy track that featured a sample from the 1981 track Rapture by Blondie.

Shocking his fan base who were used to KRSs true hip hop anti commercial stance he featured a bonus remix of his single Step In To A World that featured major commercial artist Puff Daddy.
Ironically that same year during a radio interview on Tim Westwoods BBC 1 radio show while in the UK KRS rained down on the DJ and the station letting them know that they had sold out on his type of real hip hop in favor of commercial artists like Puff Daddy.

2004 saw another KRS release titled Keep Right which was at first available with a free DVD followed by his 2006 release Life..

Forever having hip hop in his heart KRS One has done much more then add music to the pages of hip hop history, also worth noting have been his fights to keep hip hop true and real, things such as his protest song against politician C Delores Tucker after her attacks on rap music, his anti violence efforts in the hip hop community and his founding of The Temple Of Hip Hop to preserve true hip hop culture are all things that should be bundled in with KRS Ones music contributions when ever he is discussed.
