Internet Connection Sharing is a way to share your internet connection for other computers. It requires two network cards on your computer. It also requires a crossover cable or a switch/hub between your network cards. You can use this if you have to pay for an internet connection. With ICS two or more people can connect while only paying for one. You can also use this to make a machine as a gateway for your office. However, complications arise if you are running a Windows Active Directory domain or already have a DHCP server. This feature is available on Microsoft Windows 2000, xp, vista, 7, server 2000, 2003, 2008.

  • what differences does a router make?

  • @dcoollx To answer your question: "A lot" As a side note, this turns your computer into a simple router. Now if you asking what a router does, then that's a lot more information that YouTube will allow.

  • Right now I connect my xbox to the internet by just bridging the two cards. What's the difference doing it this way?

  • @Necromas Not much

  • hey plz sm1 tel me if my ISP can tel dat i m sharing the connection coz my ISP refrains from using it...

  • @thoratsam No ISP wants you to do this. No ISP really wants you to have a wireless router. you are paying them for one connection. Their logic is that means you only get to connect one computer. The way that they would find out is through the amount of traffic going through your system.

  • @technoblogical i turned internet by go to status then deactivade or something

how do i turn it on?

  • hey bro will u tell me if i will be able to share internet connection btw my desktop and laptop using bluetooth PAN

  • @fliperflopis Hiding the exact same dialog box 2 layers further down requiring you to search for everything in the start menu is not my idea of good design. Neither is changing everything so that users who don't know what a shift key does. ("Capslock is how you make capital letters, right?") have to re-learn everything they know. "Where's the start button??!?" "Where's my window at the bottom?" Not a good design.
