The Shelby Cobra needs little introduction as it is easily one of the most recognizable and most copied sports cars of all time. The 289 "FIA" was built by Shelby American to beat Ferrari at it's own game in the FIA World GT Championship.
Jeffy is right, the dimples have nothing to do with that. the reason was that the FIA racing rules required that the trunk needed to be able to fit a piece of luggage (of a certain size). the FIA cars had larger fuel tanks, so to accommodate the "luggage" they had the dimples added to the trunklid.
The "jacking points" are on backwards; that's how they were on the 427s, the 289s faced the other way. Shelby can't even make an accurate replica of his own car!
It's myth about the trunk "dimples" being created by slamming the trunk lid, and only three of the 16 cars had them.
Would love to burn the tires

Are the jacks even useable on the continuation cars? Clean looking Cobra. Needs Webers to smooth out that idle.
