"Thence they came, twelve hundred years after the people of Israel crossed the Red Sea, to their home in the west where they still live today. The Britons they first drove out, the Picts they utterly destroyed" Also taken from the Declaration of Arbroath. Iberia 300BC there were a tribe called Caladuni and these are the tribe I believe that crossed from Israel to here. The Caledonii's.

Also you said it yourself, Scythian origin. The the Declaration of Arbroath also confirms this "They journeyed from Greater Scythia by way of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Pillars of Hercules, and dwelt for a long course of time in Spain among the most savage tribes". I think it is safe to say that there were already earlier settlers living in Scotland before they arrived? I'm not trying to argue, just enlighten as this is a theory that needs more study.

@segano1 Names aside, genetic research has shown that there were 2 different peoples in Scotland with 2 different origin, the I2a2 and R1a gene. Not only does DNA research prove this theory but also linguistic studies have shown that there were also 2 different languages used at the time.

@kuniva101 No, they were one and the same land, Caledonia and Scotland are the same thing, 'Caledonia' is Scotland's other name, as is 'ALBA'.
'Scots' is derived of Scythian origin too. The 'Picts' were just a name used to refer to their Tattoos. they're real names were 'Kaltis' and 'Orcades', they were the exact same as 'Caledonian' in every way.
Scots today are the same people by and large.
They did not come from Spain at all.
And the Scots remain unconquered to this day, esp by Papal Rome.

@segano1 Caledonia and Pict lands were separate, Caledonia's were of Scythian origin, suspected to be from a tribe last known in Spain, they came to Scotland and bullied the natives (picts).
-
@kuniva101 Not so, the Caledonian's and Picts are two different terms referring to the same people. 'Caledonian' was thought to be the biggest Pictish clan in Scotland at the time the Papal Romanists tried to take as much land under Papal control as possible, but they failed.
The word 'Scot' is an ancient word derived from 'Scythia', 'Scot' and 'Scyt' being synonymous terms both collectively known as 'Scutten' in old German, the Scots and Picts are largely the same people in terms of descent.

@segano1 caledonians and picts were 2 different people. caledonians believed to be of east european descent

We are proud people
@ThePritch01
Scots = Native Caledonian Picts
English = Germanic Anglo-Saxon invaders from Germania (Modern day Germany).
Scots are far older than English.
Scotland is an older nation than England, Scotland is the oldest nation state in Europe.
Scottish flag is the oldest national flag in the world.
