The man wearing the suit is ringing the bell on a sunday morning before the worship service. I dress in my sunday best for church. So other people do the same. The bell sounds great from the street to.

Six bells at Exeter, Ontario? and the lost ring of nine at Baltimore-the Tenor still retains its ringing fittings like this!

Since this bell is not configured to be pealed full-circle, it is being swung far too high for a standard peal.

Thanks for that. Any particular problem with it swinging so high? It hadn't swung between the late 1930s and 2006 (the wheel was missing)

Swinging the bell past the striking point can cause the clapper to strike the bell too hard, which could crack the bell. With the clapper springs being so old, I would not rely on them to control the force of the clapper. Also, pealing the bell that high makes it ring very slowly. Check some of the European church bell videos and notice how much faster they ring with their straight (not arched) yokes. These bells rarely exceed an angle of 75° or so from the vertical.

Audinos, have a look at videos on Youtube of Italian bells hung "Veronese" style- These are "tucked up"/counterbalanced so they swing and strike very slowly, with the clapper hitting the "wrong" side of the bell as oposed to some Europian bells that swing faster with the clapper hitting the "leading" side of the bell. Veronese style bells are rung full circle to "concertos" and the bells don't have clapper springs nor full circle fittings. Where is the next "expert"?

The term is RUNG full circle. The rope is attached to the wrong side of the wheel to be rung full circle and controlable when the bell is "up"
