  • There's nothing on the VT where Cheryl is 'ridiculing the french language.' Cheryl was expressing her opinion why opera is very often sung in Italian, French etc which significantly complicates learning a new song if one can't speak that language. She is just expressing her view point. We are all entitled to that as I have just done.

  • I am so impressed with Cheryl Baker! She sounds fantastic ! Popstar to Operastar is the tv highlight of the week for me. So much better than crap like the Shit Factor and Britain's Got No Talent.

  • Has this woman discovered the elixer of youth. She dos not look a day older than when they WON the eurovision.Cheryl you really are a record breaker.bazzing.

  • Even in her first week she was better to listen to and watch than Elaine Paige. See "Lesley Garrett and Elaine Paige - Bacarolle"

  • Bloody hell she realy does have a voice and its lovely well done cheryl.

  • As an Argentine Tango teacher, I watch Strictly and yes, from my sofa, I'm thinking "oooh, not like that". BUT I know to dance AT at just OK level takes about 5 years; to be superb takes a lifetime. And so the same for opera. Yes, there are the brilliant professionals out there, but like Strictly, this is a competition for beginners to learn the skill of a seasoned artist but in less time.. Be gentle in your criticism and if anything, shows like this introduces the classics to the masses.

  • i am amazed at her voice well done

  • wth? they make her sing a duett ALONE???

  • This is a show I don't know whether I love or despise...I still have to make my mind up xD

  • There are tons of glamorous opera singers but ,unlike Germany, theyre never on British tv-so the chavvy massed British public's idea of opera is.....Cheryl Baker or Andy Bell very badly doing opera!!!. Why bother. Just one second of sopranos like Joyce DiDonato or Diana Damrau shows what British tv lacks. This country is becoming an uncultured wasteland.Tragic whenm it has such great homegrown opera singers-and I dont mean media hyped K Jenkins who is a laughing stock among real opera singers.
