This video is provided as news. Did Britney Spears rip off The Bellamy Brothers, OR Did The Bellamy Brothers rip off THE EAGLES? In my opinion it clearly proves that there is absolutely no compositional similarity between the Bellamy Brothers song; "If I Said You Have A Beautiful Body..." and the Britney Spears song; "Hold It Against Me".

Bellamy Brothers, "If I Said You Have A Beautiful Body":

Britney Spears, "Hold It Against Me":

The Eagles, "Lyin' Eyes":

It also proves that The Bellamy Brothers are guilty of plagerizing the song; "If I Said You Have A Beautiful Body..." from The Eagles song; "Lyin' Eyes".

The Bellamy Brothers claim Britney Spears ripped off their song; "If I Said You Have A Beautiful Body..."

The only thing similar in Britney's song; "Hold It Against Me" is the title and David Bellamy, the supposed composer of the Bellamy Brothers song didn't even coin that phrase. It was originated by the late great Groucho Marx.

In fact, the song by the Bellamy Brothers; "If I Said You Have A Beautiful Body..." is compositionally identical to The Eagles song; "Lyin' Eyes" which was a HUGE hit in 1975, making it to number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and winning a Grammy that year as well.

  • They're suing for lyrics not musical composition.

  • @invectivelover David Bellamy admittedly "borrowed" the phrase "IF I SAID YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL BODY< WOULD YOU HOLD IT AGAINST ME" from Groucho Marx who coined the phrase in the 60s. Additionally, you can not copyright a title. The Bellamys have no grounds whatsoever for their lawsuit and they stole the composition from The Eagles. When you copyright a song, you are protecting the music. A song without lyrics is still a song, lyrics without music are a poem and can't be copyrighted as a song.

  • @invectivelover Yup, and the fact is this phrase has been used for fucking ages and nobody "invented it", it's just an old saying.

  • Great Job.

Can you do the same for Express Youself vs Born This Way, cos those 2 songs are indeed identical on almost every lever.

If it wasn't Madonna's song, there'd definitely be a lawsuit. Madonna is just above all this and doesn't need to create extra publicity for Lady Gaga to make her more famous.
