"It is my hope that photographers who wish to improve will join me on the quest to realize excellence in our photographs that, because of their inherent strength will provide a more compassionate understanding of life to all who view them, regardless of their knowledge, language or spiritual beliefs. It is a way for photographers to be powerful in their lives by producing visual documents of immense value to humanity. Photography is a one world language it bridges the gap between language and cultures, explaining man to man and each man to himself."

The Photographs that appear in this video are Fiber Based prints, printed by John Free himself. (All prints done in johns darkroom)

  • I've just discovered John Free. Let the learning begin.

  • This is an artist with heart who works and feels from the soul. I bow before you! So much of photography online seems to be about whose lens is bigger, what tripod to buy blah blah. Rarely do I see a photographer like this. Somone wrote that attending his workshop was a life chan ging experience. Well for me simply watching this video has excited me and inspired me more than I can say. thank you again!

  • John would be good to attend one of your workshops, here in Melbourne Australia, your words have lifted, me from a self conscious effort to go and take photographs,

thank you, for believing in those of us struggling to go out there and take photos, your a great inspiration.

  • I can say a lot of people who has expensive camera, lens and so on are so uninspiring. Their photos feels like you are looking at a shave hair. I have sony H10 and It took what i think it is beautiful to me. check out street photography toronto on here. I am with a photographer with a heart not their tools.

  • lots of street photographers nowadays are taking photography seriously with their hi-tech knowledge and cameras. but they are not aware that they are missing a lot of things. i just use my instincts when shooting and i don't care if the photos are sharp enough. as long i capture the message and the story of the photo, share it to others and if they get the meaning of it, am happy with it. thanks a lot Mr. JOHN

  • @JohnFreePhtography Thank you!

  • Do you have more information or a website pointing to the work of that student? It's great.

  • Very nice. 10:11 lol you realy love it, so nice to listen to it.

  • John, you are an inspiration.

I would love to do a workshop with you but can't as I am in the UK.

Your work is amazing, keep it up.

  • very good

  • This is really inspiring and thourough. You said it yourself near the end of the video:

    "We share each others passion."

Thats the best line to ever hear from brilliant people. Thanks for the tips, and the beautiful photographs. Its nice (and rare) to see youtube videos of photographers without ridiculous music, action shots, fancy gear, and without heart. Cheers to the passion.
