@J0N3ZY95 29er means 29 inch front wheel
-
Actually "29 inch" is a marketing therm that refers to a wheel diameter 622mm (or 700C).
-
From riding both 26 and 29 inch wheels I can say the following things:
1.) the 29er wheel allows you to roll over larger objects that are higher off the ground. This refers to the 'angle of attack'.
2.) the feel of a hard tail (HT) 29er frame is almost the same I feel on a Full suspension.
3.) A 26in wheel does accelerate faster, however the 29in wheel keeps more momentum. As Badixon86 said 29 is better for technical terrain but once up to speed, has an advantage.
-
A 29er has a wheel diameter of 29 inches instead of the stranded 26 inch wheels. 26 is faster on flat terrain while 29 is better suited for technical terrain.

What was your overall opinion of the 29er after the test ride? Curious to know since I am considering buying one.
