The End Of Star Wars Galaxies

After 8 years and several months Star Wars Galaxies pulled the plug.
Ended where I began in front of the Mos Eisley starport, what a long strange trip it has been.
Met lots of cool people over the years, and had a lot of fun in this sandbox game.
SWG got lots of flak over the years, and rightfully so in most aspects, but there has never been a more open world game that let you do pretty much whatever you wanted.
Going to miss my toons, houses, friends, and all the crap i collected over the years.
Cada, and the rest of the gang will live on it swgemu and SWtor.

Goodbye SWG it was fun.

I do miss SWG however SWG and SWTOR are two totally different types of game. Trying to compare the two is like trying to compare Cubase to powerpoint.

TOR won't be FTP anytime soon. They are sitting around 2 million subscribers and Bioware and EA stated a while back that they would have a very profitable MMo at 500k subscribers.

The only people bitching about SWTOR are the people who don't understand that software has bugs, especially mmo software. Having a client/server software set bug free is much harder than having a client side only software bug free.

The license was actually ending in 2012, and as they stated they didn't want to pay for a new license.

You can always play on a private server (as long as they are up) but you don't have everything you collected over the last 8+ years.

I am in swgemu and it is very cool getting back to the very basics of the game, but still wish I could log in and see all my toons, friends, and stuff.

Dont feel bad guys there is almost a 100 percent chance that TOR is going to be FTP soon. The ultimate revenge is proving that NGE 2.0 is NOT what people wanted after all. The market was wrong.

i dont want to use an emu, they are outdated and unreliable. is there a way to play the swg i know in singleplayer? i dont want to host a server or anything just play through the client by myself like fallout online can.
