@pantamit4eva Of course they have to order the shutdown. How can they gurantee the safety of some hundred thoundsands people from those with knives in their hands and anger in their mind?
It's the airport authority who ordered the shutdown of the airports, not PAD. The airport could still function well. PAD only obstructed the road outside, while there are four other levels of easy accesses to the airport buildings. PAD did not interfere with the-passengers-officers-secure d zones-airport control. It is the smear of the government on PAD because the Head of the airport authority is a brother-in-law of Weera, the leader of red UDD, a strong supporter of the government and Thaksin
Truly the tourists NO NOTHING of suffering when they whinge about being stuck - at least they had food, water and 5 star hotels to stay while a flight turned up. Vote buying is easy, but not very representative is it? The disolvement of parliament would simply have returned the government with another buy-out.
The Parliament was occupied and months of unrest did nothing significant to raise awareness.
The country is going down in living standard while a few control the revenue of the many.
You see the corruption of police and officals every day - its systemic - one ranger collected 5 months pay in a single day from 7 boats - not much of which the government will see - let alone the people that really could use a safe drinking supply
I was there 8 days ago 2 hours before the PAD closed the airport (some staff sympathizers let them in) - And truly, torturous as it was to be there 6 days being crushed by other tourists - I knew fully why the PAD cut the airport off. No international attention or pressure was given to Thailand by any other country.
That was then... The destruction of the country by PAD, and the possible Anarchy after the PM is gone... is it so much better? Thai PM's are always corrupt.... deal with it!
