when i was younger i played piano in a band and only later have i really got into synths. I understand totally that great music can be created from noise...but only by understanding how that noise is created and manipulated can you begin to understand the beauty and complexities and endless possibilities. Much more interesting than pressing some keys on a piano

Ah, that's great because that's exactly what you want to hear and understand about the 2600 functionalities for somebody seriously interested into it. ... That really answered me questions as well as raising a real interest into it.
A quick question though, if using the ARP2600 with external Modular synth, do you use the Lag processor each time (too limit signal, avoid overchargin?) or directly using the jacks input in VCO, VCF...?

@overnationmusic I'm pretty sure Buchla was against a keyboard interface when he started rolling out his synths. Same with EMS.

@overnationmusic They are used often for strange lead voices (you'll want to throw them through a Lexicon) for trippy lead lines in dance music genres, or like Automatic said, Mortin Subotnick type stuff ..if you're into that.

I have two to trade for a 2500 ..fine I'll throw in a case of Scotch. Morely, are you listening LOL??
in the arturia Arp2600 emulation software they fixed that Pulse width flaw and added another to oscillator 3

@kidamable That's awesome! Just like you could fix all of the "flaws" in the Mona Lisa with Photoshop. And the picture would be FREE! And you could print it out and hang it on your wall! And it'd be JUST LIKE having the MONA LISA! And you could tell your friends that you do, and that it's BETTER.

the only place to use a arp2600 is on utube as there noise ? make music not noise
i really dont see the point of making noise? synths are really for making songs so make them,
overnationmusic 1 year ago
@overnationmusic The point of my videos is to demonstrate functionality, first and foremost. I'm not making noise, I'm showing you what each module does. If you're looking for some idiot trying to play Frankenstein, you're looking in the wrong place. Lastly, synths are not for "making songs," synths are for whatever the user wants. When the ARP 2600 was created, it was NOT created to do "songs," it was meant as a tool for avant garde composers. Namely: NOISE.
