Practising controlled low flight, along the north coast of the Wirral Peninsular which is near the city of Liverpool in the UK, the low flying was at the low water mark to be well away from the public, the flight was also well clear of the Hilbre restricted airspace, the aircraft is a Mainair F2a flexwing microlight powered by a 50hp Rotax 2 stroke, it was filmed one lovely summers evening in 2008, during the low flying part of the flight keep your eye on my shadow as the aircraft descends and my altimeter if you can read it,
I think the song by Louie Armstrong "Wonderful world" sums up the feeling you get when flying a seat of the pants microlight aircraft, hope you enjoy it.

Just a small correction, I incorrectly called our club the West Lancs Microlight Club, but its the Ince Blundell Microlight Flying Club, must have been having a blonde moment.

  • Is it expensive...getting a NPPL pilots licence is costly at about £3500...and oldish microlight like mine is around £3000,

The legality of flying low are that you can fly as low as you want but must always be over 500ft away from any person animal or structure....so you do have to be careful....

  • Peter Sorry only just noticed your comment re the sound track....It does sound a bit like Chi Mai but its actually called Sleepy Shores by Johnny Pearson.....not quite as grand as Chi Mai.

  • Thanks for that Ronnie glad you liked it, its something I am only just getting to feel confident about, and I was careful to pick a location not to upset anybody.

    Nick.
