  • I'm suprised you used L iron instead of C channel for trailer neck, I've seen other trailers you made with the stronger C channel steel, Is this a light duty trailer under 1000lbs? what are the axels & springs rated for?

  • @jettastreetracer You need an arc welder that can handle at least 1/8 inch thick square tubing welded with 6011 rods. Don't use angle iron for main structure, it will bend too easily. Check out my utility trailer video for a good example of what sturdy homemade trailer should look like. My advice, if you are stuck with a little mig welder, just buy the $700 dollar one or look on ebay for a good used trailer. I've seen some great deals on there for trailers.

  • wow i hope you fix the toung you guys are going to get somone hurt and for the people out their watching this clip dont buy these at the very least put tube down the middle to the middle of the trailer

  • @MyTrailerProjects wait....just got on this site, i only see kits and plans for sale...if i had a bigger welder i would do this but i cant. how thick angle are we talking about for a regular 5x8 utility trailer? my welder can only weld up to 3/16 steel...its the welder my boss gave me at the shop.

  • @Populist1488 ok, im trying to see the cost diffenece between a $700 5x8 trailer with about 1650 lbs capacity and building one but not sure of the thickness of the angle bar gauges and leafsprings and axles....just the frame. i can tack it all but i would feel more comfortable for someone with a bigger welder and a more experianced guy to finish it off...what would cost be? thanks

  • I can't believe you guys are doing this for a living. Your design sucks and your going to get someone on the road hurt when the person who buys that from you caries anything actually requiring a real trailer.

  • all most as bad as the factory cheep ones you buy

  • ohh my!!!such a heavy looking little trailer and such a piss-weak drawbar...I think engineering at its average...look at brifords for some tips

  • You could have purchase a complete kit with wheels and tires for 423.86 with free delivery from Trailer projects.com

they also sell trailer blueprints to build over 30 different trailers, Utility trailers, car hauler, car dolly, dump trailers snowmobile trailer, boat and more

  • How come the draw bar does not fully extend to the axle ?
