Few modern rock guitarsist have had such a major impact on the guitar community as Steve Vai.

Mr Vai's musical ability comprises of strong, unpredictable compositions - as well as a technical driven guitar style with innovative techniques and melodies.

In this lesson lesson we will approach Steve's pattented tones and techniques by analysing "Vai slides", whammy-bar tricks, lydian mode and plain shred!

The backing tracks should allow you to start practicing these techniques slowly - and gradually work your way to the top!

As always, if this feels way to difficult for you - just focus on nailing one single lick. Give it a lot of time - eventually move over to the next one. --Kris

  • love the tone!

  • Steve vai style? Lol...

  • @Marquenater It's not really all that stupid. Stupid is saying something like this isn't talented or saying that it's bland.

  • @Chaz6993X that was really stupid what u just said, dont comment for like the next 4 years

  • yummy well done

  • @Chaz6993X Calm down, he doesn't even use it THAT often! It's all about your style of playing. Some people don't use it at all and it's fine; it depends what you want your music to feel like.

  • @KingOfShadows1500 I know the story about him locking himself inside a room for a long period of time to tune his ear to the perfect pitch or whatever of the different positions of the trem, but seriously, it shouldn't be in every fucking measure of music that he rights. It's obnoxious and it's my opinion. Jesus.

  • @Chaz6993X Yes he did develop his own style, like every musician does. Plus, he brought a whole new way to play the guitar; you should inform yourself.

  • @KingOfShadows1500 He didn't develop anything, he does it about as regularly as Jeff Beck did it.

  • @Chaz6993X This is false. Steve Vai developed a whole new style of playing using the tremolo, which gives him that unique sound that he's known with. Using the tremolo is like picking: you can't say it's annoying when you do it more than once! It just a way of playing the guitar!
