Just a quick video to offer some short comments on a few matters and to extend good wishes for the holidays. BTW, I know I mispronounce Christopher Hitchens's name at one point. (Thanks for all the messages reminding me of that. Let me assure you, I am my own harshest critic. :-) ) Perhaps I *should* have poured out some scotch rather than drinking it between takes.

  • Now that NDAA *is* law, and the ACLU and many people definately *are* saying that people can be hold indefinately, what is your opinion? Obama has said that he, himself, would not use those sections of the bill against the American people. But that doesn't stop other admistrations from using it, or from him just simply changing his mind.

My opinion is the same as what I said in the video, i.e., the NDAA does not meaningfully change the law with respect to American citizens for better or worse. This interview of Professor Geoffrey Stone of the University of Chicago Law School about the statute is worth a listen: onthemedia (.) org (/) tags (/) geoff_stone (/)

  • LOL! Loved the scotch-fueled blooper reel, ProfMTH.

Wishing you the best in life to you in the New Year.

  • @Turandot29 Thanks! :-)

  • Wow, even in a planned advertisement this guy blows it. Rhetorical rant: Conservatives don't respect the sacrifice gays make for the country? Christians don't know there are politicians skanky enough to shill religion for personal gain?

Cowboy Rick needs to return to Tejas and never come back.

  • @StormTrek Indeed.

  • Seasons greetings? What's with the war on holidays? And what the heck does that even mean anyway? Seasons? Like what? Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter? So uh, is this like some new fangled bullshit method of saying "Happy Winter Greetings" to everybody on the northern hemisphere and "Happy Summer Greetings" to everybody on the southern hemisphere? I don't know about you, but last time I checked the planet is FLAT and people in Australia do NOT hang by their feet from the ground!

  • You've done some great videos. Happy holidays.

  • 00:27 I'm sure that from somewhere out there Hitchens....wait a minute!!...he is not just food for the worms now?

  • It is so sad to think that we are so selfish that we would rather let people starve and die in "their own countries" rather than offer them the peace and prosperity that none of us achieved, but was achieved by IMMIGRANTS who came to this country before us. The U.S. is a sad, sad place. Yes, we are better than many others, but that is saying much. Is our policy really going to be "At least we aren't China or Iran?" I think we should aim a bit higher than that.

  • I with you on the Japanese internment camps. Just another blight on the "good name" of the United States. People of this nation seem to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. They do it with every single wave of immigration and never learn. First we hated the Irish, then the Italian, then the Eastern Europeans, then the Chinese, then the Japanese, then the Russians, now anyone Hispanic. The U.S. is a country of immigrants. When will we learn that and embrace our brethren?

  • @ProfMTH THANKS!

  • @gr8vibes2 "who did jingle bells in the beginning? sounds awesome"

The Boston Brass and the Brass All Stars Big Band.
