On 07/31/10 this shoot started as a clear summer night just outside Grand Ridge, IL (1.5 hrs South East of Chicago) near the family farm where I grew up. Only an hour or so after setting up the Cemetery shot, fog as thick as pea soup rolled in unexpectedly. We decided to keep shooting because the sky above was still dotted with the brightest of stars and a near full moon. What we ended up with is one of the more unusual time-lapses I've ever seen. And to think . . . we almost packed up and went home. 4 of the 5 time-lapses we shot that night are included in this composite in their complete form.

Lapse 1: Field East - be sure to check out the beans in the field rolling and moving slowly to follow the moonlight!

Lapse 2: Family Cemetery East. This is an old family cemetery from the early 1800s, it's always been a mysterious place to me and to see it come alive in a way only time-lapse can bring . . . This was my first run using a 5' Kessler Crane Cinedolly. I am excited to use this time-lapse dolly more in the future.

Lapse 3: Auger East. Loved the cool rustic composition of that old auger bathed in the moonlight. Again the fog is just rushing over the camera "eye".

Lapse 4: Wind Turbine "Excalibur" SW. Maybe my favorite time-lapse I have created so far. It was the first shot of an isolated wind turbine we have "dubbed" Excalibur. Check out "The Perseids - Meteor Shower" shoot we shot two weeks later after this inspirational lapse. vimeo.com/14152600 The way the moon reflects off the column and the movements of the blades, can't wait to shot more in different seasons.

Any questions on technique / gear / workflow let me know, I'm glad to share. I'll also be posting the full process on my time-lapse blog epiceye.com shortly. Thanks Clayton for all your help with this one!
